GET TESTED

Carbon Monoxide in a motor vehicle is actually quite easy to detect with the proper equipment. We are pleased to announce that the Wayne Township Trustee, Andy Harris, and the Wayne Township Fire Department have teamed up with us to offer free testing of vehicles! The process is fairly quick and can provide you with the peace of mind to know that your vehicle is safe.

The testing process takes less than 15 minutes. It is made up of two components, both requiring the engine to be running. A CO meter is placed in the automobile and all windows and sunroofs are closed. The heater is turned on with the fan running on low. A reading is taken after five minutes. If the result is 0, the test is repeated with the air conditioner on and the fan running on low. Another reading is taken after five minutes. That is all that is required to complete the test.

Anyone can request a test by calling the Wayne Township Fire Department at (317) 246-6200 or by stopping by the headquarters building during normal business hours. The address is 700 N. High School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46214.
